Hello,and thank you for visiting.
I am Toshitaka Ito, Ph.D., President & CEO of SerenNexus, Inc.
SerenNexus was born from my strong desire to bring research outcomes to life and create real-world impact through social implementation.
Throughout my career, I have engaged in research on regional policy and Innovation Ecosystems, while gaining hands-on experience in the field through collaboration across industry, academia, and government, as well as public-private partnerships.
Drawing on my many years of experience as a local government official deeply involved in regional administration, I continue to tackle social challenges by combining academic knowledge with practical engagement, working hand-in-hand with private enterprises, universities and research institutions, government bodies, and local communities.
Bridging Theory and Practice to Tackle Challenges
Through directly confronting the complex issues faced in the field, I have come to deeply appreciate the importance of bridging theory and practice.
To solve the challenges our communities face, we need to embrace serendipitous encounters and maintain a mindset that is unafraid of trial and error. I believe that turning failures and difficulties into valuable experiences is at the heart of a thriving innovation ecosystem.

The name “SerenNexus” embodies our aspirations, combining the ideas of “serendipity” and “connection (nexus).”
We believe that by connecting people, knowledge, communities, and the wider world, new value can be created. We are committed to nurturing an ecosystem that makes these connections possible.
In these uncertain times, we place great importance on resilient design(redundant design) that enables us to adapt flexibly to unpredictable changes in our environment. With this approach, we will continue to pursue the realization of sustainable and resilient communities.

We collaborate with local governments to support evidence-based policymaking.
Through lectures and training programs, we also provide ongoing support to strengthen communities’ problem-solving capabilities. - Planning and Production of Publications and Educational Content
To share the knowledge and insights gained from our research with society, we engage in the planning, editing, and dissemination of books, educational materials, and digital content. - Life Design Support (Financial Planning & Career Consulting)
Guided by the principles of serendipity and resilient design, we help individuals embrace challenges and foster growth by providing life design and career development support through design thinking.
Through these initiatives, we aim to integrate the wisdom of industry, academia, and government with the power of civic engagement, contributing to the sustainable development of our communities.
